Installation question

Is a 4-way valve required?
Answer:

Yes, a 4-way valve is required.

Explanation:

A four-way valve is a device with many useful functions, including:
– protects the boiler against low-temperature corrosion
– mixing the feed water back in order to obtain a constant medium for the central heating circuit or underfloor heating
– enables smooth temperature control by means of an actuator
– valve assembly gives additional fuel savings
– above all, it protects our boiler against corrosion and extends the life of the boiler

What to do when we boil water in the boiler?
Answer:

Don’t panic. Usually, when we boil water in the boiler, nothing serious should happen. The reason for the boiler to boil is the lack of heat reception, open ash-pan door, placing easily flammable fuel, e.g. newspapers.

Explanation:

In such a case, the controller turns on all pumps above the temperature of 90 ° C, even if they are turned off, and opens the mixing valve to cool the boiler down.
If the door is open, close it. If it is an upper combustion boiler, you can open the top door in order to cool the boiler faster.
It is absolutely forbidden to allow cold water into the installation – it may cause the boiler to explode.

What is the minimum temperature of the boiler?
Answer:

The higher the better, but the minimum boiler temperature should not be lower than 60 ° C.

Explanation:

The boiler should be adjusted in such a way that at the boiler temperature of 60oC, the flue gases are approx. 140 ° C.
We will have the best boiler efficiency.
All combustion conditions will be maintained.
At such temperatures, the boiler will not freeze, it will not get wet due to the lack of flue gas condensation (dew point temperature).

Why is the central heating pump not working?
Answer:

DHW priority is enabled. Schedule is attached.

Explanation:

In order to eliminate the problem, turn off the DHW priority and set the schedule.

Is it allowed to admit water to the system while the boiler is in operation?
Answer:

It is forbidden to allow water to enter the system while the boiler is in operation.

Explanation:

Supplying water to the hot boiler may cause the boiler and installation to become unsealed.
When the boiler is very hot, it may lead to leakage or cracks.

What is the minimum return temperature?
Answer:

As a book, the minimum return temperature is 10 ° C less than the flow temperature.

Explanation:

In practice, it is practically impossible without the use of mixing valves or other methods of mixing the boiler.
It is advisable to install a four-way valve, with such an installation, the boiler operates on a short circuit at high temperature, and the installation at any set temperature.
The return protection at this temperature is maintained and it can be said that it is equal to the boiler flow temperature.

Why does the controller close the mixing valve?
Answer:

Too low return temperature, allow the boiler to slowly allow water into the central heating system, in the case of a long-term condition, place the return sensor closer to the mixing valve or change the minimum return temperature.

Problems with the central heating boiler

In the retort burner, the fuel burns only from one side of the furnace?
Answer:

In the retort burner, the fuel burns only on one side of the furnace due to the dirty air chamber of the burner. There is no seal under the retort flange or the fan is dirty.

Explanation:

Clean the burner air chamber. Fit the packing cord. Clean the fan.

What is the cause of a split pin breaking?
Answer:

The reason for breaking the split pin is the fuel granulation inconsistent with the manufacturer’s recommendations, (a lot of stones in eco-pea coal or a lot of sawdust in the pellets), wet fuel, sinter on the burner.

Explanation:

Replace eco-pea coal.
Sift eco-pea coal, replace.
Replace the pellets.
Dry the fuel.
Clean the burner.

Why is the feeder engine running and not feeding fuel?

Explanation:

Open the cleanout window, remove the “foreign body”, eg a stone. Replace the motor capacitor.

What happens when the feeder temperature is exceeded?
Answer:

In order to avoid flashback, the controller activates the feeder in order to push the fuel out of the feeder pipe.

What is the maximum feeder temperature?
Answer:

The maximum feeder temperature is 80 ° C.

Why is there water leakage from convection channels?
Answer:

Fuel is burned too quickly due to:
– too large chimney cross-section
– too much air supply
– wrong driver settings

Explanation:

Close the throttle on the flue. Check the door tightness. Adjust the air supply. Adjust the controller or call the service.

Why is the boiler "sweating" during the first start-ups?
Answer:

During the first start-ups, the boiler “sweats” as condensation occurs.

Explanation:

Fire up the boiler to the temperature of about 80oC and keep it for at least 6 hours. When there is a need, we repeat this action.

How long will a full tank of fuel last?
Answer:

There is no definite answer to this question. It can be assumed that a full tank of fuel will last for 3-4 days.

Explanation:

The burning behavior of the boiler depends on:
– calorific value of fuel
– the degree of thermal insulation of the building
– type of installation: underfloor heating, radiators, boiler
– cleanliness in the boiler exchanger, ash content in the ash pan
– outside temperature
– house temperatures
– combustion quality

Why is smoke coming out of the boiler door?
Answer:

Smoke comes out of the boiler door due to lack of draft.

Explanation:

Wall tightly the entrance of the flue to the chimney. Check the chimney patency and its parameters, if they comply with the recommendations.
Seal the outlet of the stove to the chimney, preventing the intake of cold air. If the chimney cross-section is too small, an exhaust fan can be installed.

Why is there a grease in the boiler?
Answer:

There are a few cases where the boiler is greasy, e.g. wet fuel, bad combustion conditions, oversized boiler, low boiler temperature.

Explanation:

Seal the entrance to the chimney tightly.
In the first case, the moist fuel produces too low exhaust gas temperature and thus exhaust gas condensation. In this case, not only is the boiler greasy, but also the chimney.
In the latter case, most often there is simply not enough air in the combustion chamber. Just add some air and a flame, the gases will burn freely without precipitating carbon from the exhaust.
In the case of an oversized boiler, the temperature is obtained very quickly and therefore the boiler will be at standstill more often than not in operation. As a result, the gases in the flue gases will not burn out, i.e. the boiler will become greasy.
Too low boiler temperature is the worst error. If the boiler is incorrectly connected to the installation, it is the thermostat in the house, i.e. to reduce the temperature in the house, you need to lower the boiler temperature. In this case it is recommended to install mixing valves.

Photosensor check
Reasons:

The photosensors in the burner should be cleaned periodically with a damp, soft cloth. To do this, disassemble the housing by loosening four mushroom head screws in REVO Mini – REVO Mini35 models, and three bolts in models from REVO 44 to REVO 150. Then remove the photosensor from the socket, clean it and reinstall it. After performing the above steps, reassemble the burner housing in reverse order.
Photosensor cleaning frequency: boiler rooms every 3 months
Measurement reading in the dark 0-5 units, in full light 100 units.

Damage to the feeder sensor - the alarm cannot be canceled
Reasons:

The most common cause of a defect is the destruction of the thermoprotection of the sensor, which in turn leads to overheating of the measuring element. If, despite the burner cooling down, the fault cannot be canceled, the measuring sensor must be replaced. In order to verify whether the sensor is definitely damaged, measure its resistance, which should be between 1-5 Ω. The resistance of a damaged sensor is about 100 kΩ.

Blower defective
Reasons:

– blockage of the blower blades – unscrew the blower cover screws and check whether they are not mechanically blocked
– check the voltage on the blower wires
– check the blower motor capacitor

The preset boiler temperature on the display is different than the programmed one.
Check:
